Okay so everyone shit themselves over Telephone, and yeah I'll admit that it was good. But I am kind of in love with The Dead Weather's new video for Die by the Drop.

Maybe it's because I am in love with Alison Mosshart, but I don't think so because I have an irrational dislike of Jack White, and this has almost won me over.

McAroons?

Apparently, in France they have macaroons at their McDonalds' ... well the McCafés (which is like a classier version of McDs that serves delicious sandwiches, coffees, lattes, cappucinos and cakes... kind of like our Second Cups).

They're supposedly from the same company that owns Laduree so I guess it's pretty good quality.

I mean I guess it's not TECHNICALLY served at McD's because it's at the McCafes, but it's clearly owned by McDonalds so...

ANYWAYS this is all to say that a) macaroons are awesome, b)mcaroons at McDs is the weirdest idea and c) I really miss eating the delicious Lobster Sandwiches that they had in the McCafes in HK.

i have to be awake in 5 hours to go to school and hand in a paper at 8:30.
at the moment it is half finished...

i am writing about the portrayal of canadian athletes and representation of canadian identity in the olympics, specifically in the clips that CTV was showing featuring different athletes and how they are portrayed.

i have just finished writing about patrick chan, and i think i have seen this video of him sitting shirtless on the floor about 20 times.

i feel gross.

but the hamelins are next, followed by bilodeau so it gets substantially better.

LIFE

an easy 5 weeks to graduation.

if i hadn't decided to apply to grad school i would be cruising right now... but i did so i have to keep my average to a 78%


seriously in about a month i'm going to go all out and party for all the hours of my life i have wasted reading/writing/chained to my laptop.

i signed up awhile ago... i wanted to see what the hype was about.
i haven't actually started using it till recently.

if gender is performative, and categories of gender, race, and nationalism are negotiated, and are mobile positions in a shifting field of power and meaning, as are all identity categories, and they all intersect and depend on each other for their meaning... does this mean that everything that i am, and that i think i am... everything that i identify as is false or not real?

so in short, categories of identity refer back to an original that does not exist... they just refer back to representations of representations.

which means that today's society- argued to be a world of exhibition - is where everything is a representation of some "real" but even the "reality" is a representation of what "real" is supposed to be. what is "real" doesnt exist.
