summer

THIS IS THE LAST SUMMER I WILL HAVE IN LIFE.
(like... off school...)
I just realized this.
WHAT A WASTE. I HAVE DONE NOTHING.

on another note, I found a program where I go to Berlin for 6 weeks and live in a converted factory with 29 other young people, and we come together with innovative ideas to transform workspaces in the 'digital age', and plan and create such a space at the end of the 6 weeks.
Too bad I will be in the suffering in the clutches of post-secondary education during the time that this is happening.

To console myself (and maybe you) here is a hot picture of my boyfriend:

Max at Sea

the new yorker has posted an excerpt from david eggers' novelized version of where the wild things are. you can read it here.

i am a huge fan of the children's story, and i'm a fan of eggers so this is kind of awesome.
eggers also helped write the screenplay for the where the wild things are movie directed by spike jonze, based on the children's book which i am dying to watch.

let me know what you think!

quiet houses

Although some of these rooms look like they belong in some of the houses I posted below, they all actually belong to houses that are being lived in (minus the grown over bathroom.. I don't quite remember where I found that image, or what the context was that it was taken..). These all look like cozy little rooms you'd find in a cottage hidden in the woods. Rooms where you would take a mug of tea, and listen to the ragged wood LP with the sun streaming in.

what a time it was, it was

(1st 3 photos from Sweet Juniper - last one idr.)

I always find deserted houses incredibly beautiful. Looking at them, you can't help but imagine all the sad scenarios that may have happened in order for these buildings to be abandoned. There aren't too many houses like this around here... although I've seen a few in the Mississauga Rd area that I'm dying to explore, although I'm not sure that's an entirely safe idea..However, there was definitely a dirth of houses like these in Manoel Viana, there was a street that had one run-down, abandoned building for every one that was occupied. I remember (stupidly) going into one and going from room to room with some people. It was the creepiest thing, although the roof was off in most of the rooms and it was in broad daylight, and walls between most of the rooms had crumbled, I couldn't help but be on my toes everytime I turned a corner in case someone or something was hidden in the room. There were some interesting relics though (besides the used condoms thrown in corners...), broken down toilets, an old kitchen table, smashed dishes, a broken down wheelbarrow in the backyard. It was like walking through the shell of someone's former life.
